Jihan Al-Tahri is an Egyptian-born, French filmmaker, author and news correspondent. She has authored, directed and produced award-winning documentary films, authored books and reported on political conflicts in the Middle East and Africa. She is a Member of the Executive Bureau of FEPACI (Federation of Pan-African Cinema) and Secretary General of The Guilde of African filmakers in the Diaspora. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (with honours) in Political Science and a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science, both from the American University in Cairo. In 2017 she visited the University of Bayreuth for the second time in the context of the Festival 49° Grenzüberschreitungen. Her film trilogy Egypts Modern Pharaos was screened and Jihan El-Tahri discussed Egyption history and politics with the festival audience.
