Nassirou Bako Arifari is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Francophonie, and the Beninese Abroad of the Republic of Benin. He was previously professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Abomey Calavi (Benin), a lecturer at the University of Cologne (Germany), and director of the Laboratory for Studies and Research on Social Dynamics and Local Development (LASDEL Benin). His research and publications have focused on processes of democratization, anthropological approaches to corruption in west Africa, and decentralization and local governance in rural Benin and Niger, among other issues. Bako Arifari holds a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (Marseille).
