Erasmus+ is the new EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport. Erasmus+ is the follow-up of several other educational EU-programmes, amongst others Erasmus and Erasmus Mundos. Its aims are to provide opportunities for students and professionals to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad. The recognition of credits earned abroad and financial support for exchange students are central components of the programme.
Regular exchanges of students and teachers between the University of Bayreuth and the Centre for West African Studies of the University of Birmingham take place under the ERASMUS+ programme. Other ERASMUS+ exchange programmes have been established with the African studies centres at the universities of Barcelona, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Madrid, Naples, Nice and Pisa.
