28.04.2022 // 19.00 p.m.

Dear friends, dear colleagues,

dear ladies and gentlemen

With great anticipation we would like to announce the opening of the exhibition

We will now go to Kpaaza.

Transitions and journeys through Uche Okeke's work

on Thursday, 28.04.2022 from 6.00pm at Iwalewahaus, Wölfelstr. 2 in Bayreuth, Germany.

The exhibition in cooperation with Asele Institute and Prof. Uche Okeke Legacy Limited, pays tribute to the work of artist Uche Okeke.

Five years after the passing of Uche Okeke, the significance of his legacy in contemporary and modern African art is clear. The exhibition contributes to the discussion on the relevance of ideas around art as a factor of social renewal by emphasizing the importance of Uche Okeke as an artist, educator and cultural activist.

We will now go to Kpaaza presents works by Uche Okeke; including drawings and paintings that have not been displayed in public for many years. We will now go to Kpaaza invites a new look at works and concepts by Uche Okeke and many of his friends and companions and provides new perspectives on his artistic work through contemporary interventions, including a digital installation by artist Jeremiah Ikongio (Lagos, Nigeria).

The curators Nantume Violet and Ijeoma Loren Uche-Okeke will be present in Bayreuth from 04th of  April 2022.

We cordially invite you to the vernissage and look forward to welcoming you in Bayreuth!
