The Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence and Iwalewahaus cordially invite you to the Okwui Enwezor Distinguished Lecture 2026, featuring Kenyan-German artist and scholar Syowia Kyambi.
This year's lecture is part of a special evening dedicated to African feminist perspectives on art, memory, and the possibilities of imagining different futures.
Taking place at the opening of the African Feminisms GatheringShifting Feminist Futures, the lecture brings artistic, academic, and activist perspectives into dialogue. It also coincides with the opening of the group exhibition Beyond the Sweet and Obvious. African Feminisms Refracted, in which Syowia Kyambi is among the featured artists.
Named in honour of the internationally renowned curator and intellectual Okwui Enwezor (1963–2019), the Distinguished Lecture series invites leading voices from the arts and academia to challenge established perspectives and explore the transformative potential of art and knowledge.
