The meeting brought together representatives from six academic institutions—University of Bayreuth, University of Würzburg, Technische Hochschule Neu-Ulm, Technische Hochschule Deggendorf, Technische Hochschule Triesdorf-Weihenstephan, and Hochschule Ingolstadt—along with a supplementary study programme and a research funding institution.
The University of Bayreuth participated through the Institute of African Studies and its supplementary study programme, as well as Faculties II (Geography and Chemistry), III (Law and Economics), IV (Humanities), and VII (Life Sciences).
A key highlight of the event was the formal admission of Technische Hochschule Deggendorf as the sixth member of the research network, marking an important step in the expansion and strengthening of collaborative efforts.
Participants gave brief presentations introducing their institutions, core research topics, and ongoing or completed projects. The overarching aim of the meeting was to outline a shared research agenda for the coming years and to identify promising areas of synergy, with a view to fostering deeper cooperation across the network.
Overall, the event successfully reinforced connections between the partner institutions and laid the groundwork for future joint research initiatives.
